The Trump Building 40 Wall Street, New York, New York
The Trump Organization needed a luxurious yet state-of-the-art new image to be created for 40 Wall Street in order to bring this landmark 1929 structure into the 21st century. Der Scutt, designer of Trump Tower, was engaged to redesign the lobby and retail storefronts of the 1.3-million-square-foot structure.
The new and expanded 5,500-square-foot lobby includes new, finely detailed marble work; a patterned marble floor; a coffered ceiling with new lighting; and a new, centrally located concierge desk with a computerized building directory. Lobby and building mechanical systems throughout the building were modernized.
The new Wall Street storefront includes thermal-finish granite piers that visually provide support and presence at the base of the building. The storefronts have polished bronze trim at all windows and elegant new retail entrances. New, custom revolving doors were installed at the lobby entrance. The Pine Street facade also received a new entrance.
Once the tallest building in the world, The Trump Building again became one of the premier addresses on Wall Street. The $4-million project was completed in early 1997.
