The Milan 118 – 123 West 23rd Street, New York, New York

The Architect was commissioned to design a luxury apartment building on a very restrictive site. The Client mandated an economical building with moderate-sized rooms. Because the site is bordered by industrial buildings to the south, through-floor apartments were planned allowing double exposure. A unique feature of the structure provides terraces and balconies for all living rooms. The bold use of burgundy-colored railings enhance these exterior living spaces. The dramatic entrance canopy and elegant lobby are appointed with rich materials, including highly polished bronze, a palette of marbles, and mahogany wood panels. The street level accommodates 7,500 square feet of retail, and there are 65 rental apartments on 14 floors.

Construction was completed in March 1988.
